I'm starting to hear of premature timing belt failures and that the engine is being re-designed to use a chain instead of the belt running in oil.

Does anyone know more detail?

It’s been a known issue for a couple of years and is crumbling of the belt, a belt of different construction was supposedly introduced in 2017. I have not heard of a redesign of the engine, where have you heard this?
