I have a slight problem with the wiper stalk on my Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDI (04plate)

When I push in the button at the end of the stalk in order to scroll through the display information on the car screen, it operates the rear wiper on the car. The rear wiper still operates in the normal way as well. Two for the price of one I suppose.

Is the stalk repairable, or, can I just replace the stalk rather than the whole comm unit ?

Thank you.

You can change the stalk. These cars are multiplexed. They use the same wire to send more than one command to the control computer. Possible that your fault is just a worn through wire area on the hub.

Thanks.

Will try and find out how to dissassemble the stalk and fit a replacement,

After watching the video I think I may pass on the stripping down of the unit. I will invariably end up with lots of pieces coming off and having idea where they go back. Will have to put up with the dodgy wiper for now.☹️

Sorry if my link put you off! Could be worth giving this repairer a ring-
