this is on a 09 petrol but I think all the gear sticks / selectors are the same.

what should happen when selecting 5th gear is the stick springs left a bit,

this enables a subsequent  smooth change down to 4th rather than crashing into reverse.

this one has lost it's spring and appears generally limp

A quick look at the selector at the base of the stick , there appears to be a spring which could be weak causing the problem,

I guess a trip to the scrappy for the complete selector but has anyone else had this problem ?

look forward to any limp stick jokes :)

just for anyone else who has the problem,

stripped the selector out today , bit of a faff.

there is a spring which centres the gearstick in neutral and pulls it left when in 5th.

One end of the spring is broken off , the end which pulls left.

Citroen don't spare the spring separately, surprise surprise, and a complete selector is £160 + vat

Thought about getting the broken piece of spring welded back on !  but I guess it's a trip to the scrappy.
