Many will be aware of who called me websites but I have noticed not a thread on here yet.

Just had one last half hour the theme. 'This is BT Openreach sir about your computer (Indian accent)' me 'Oh yes? have you fixed it? do you want my bank account details to pay?' '(indian) How did you know sir?' 'You called yesterday about the fault' '(Indian) Put the phone down then :)'

This was the number 01215493788

Expect more; Amazon Prime account, Amazon Credit Card, your bank calling you about misuse of your Mastercard where £640 has been withdrawn to a foreign account, all get a polite F-off and the phone replace

I always keep them talking as long as possible, told one today about 2 of us going through the windscreen. (it really happened)  He passed me to the claims controller, I spun it out with him for as long as I could.  He asked me when it happened.  It was 1959 when I was in the R.A.F.  He hung up.

I'm the opposite, never use my mobile phone. Can't find a use for it.  An Aussie friend bought me a Samsung Galaxy for my birthday 2 years ago. I'm on P.A.Y.G put £10 on and still have £6-50 left. Just a waste of money.

I just don't have a use for it, but keep it for use in an emergency.

I don't use the landline any more, it just sits in the corner a relic from a bygone age, the answerphone just taking nuisance calls one after the other which are just deleted on mass and never listened to.

Just decided to pull the plug and bin it.

Mobile phone data is getting cheaper all the time . soon we'll be able to get rid of the landline completely.

Having a good 4G mobile connection we can get 5X the broadband speed compared to the landline . and 5G is on its way.

With landline line rental @ £20 / month  can't wait to get shot of it.

Been out had 3 this morning no message left on machine one at 11:13 one at 11;42 last one sat having lunch 12:42 it went to answermachine  I must have blocked it before because it did not ring. May have been a couple on a cruise liner wanting a lift home ;(

Yes with Mobile Ozzie but I'll be on top up until BT compromise on price with mobile not paying for super broadband twice they must think we are stupid. They dropped the internet free calls to bt landline last year too getting greedy use o2 top up (used to be BT)

Good thing about Landline is you can check your line by plugging 'Dixon of Dock Green' type analogue phone in before asking BT or other provider to come and may charge £50 call out if there is a fault that is theirs' not inside the household.

I have a Mobil and landline package with B.T, I have infinity for broadband which is very fast and reliable.
My Mobil contract is £5 a month and was upgraded by B.T a few years ago and gives me unlimited calls and text with 3 gig of Mobil data.

Shot themselves in the foot because once my Mobil was upgraded I had no use for the landline and I no longer pay extra for free weekend calls and a few other services I no longer need.

I don't think I have used the landline since my upgrade probably 2 years ago now.

Could be an international call using a ghost number to make it look like a UK call, I have had several calls that have obviously been from India that have had numbers with my local STD code to make them look like a local call.

I received an email today purporting to be from HM Revenue and Customs,  telling me I was due a tax rebate of £550.46.  (I know I'm not owed any such rebate,  so will not be clicking on any of their helpful links or parting with any personal details... email promptly deleted).

Co-incidentally,  my wife also received an identical email in HER in-box,  and you'll never believe this:  She is owed a rebate of exactly the same amount,  to the very penny!  Do these people think we were born yesterday?

My tax rebate for real was 40p. The tax office sent me a letter costing 70 pence to tell me this fact, and that was after they told me in an email and on the OFFICIAL web site.
I also had the you are owed tax rebate email.
