Up here in [badly managed] Kirklees, the council are moving towards replacing the Sodium lighting with banks of LED lights, while I applaud there move toward saving electricity its a big thumbs down on the effectiveness of LED in this application, there is insufficient light on the road and almost nil on the pavement, from memory they are on a par with the old gas mantle street lights of the '50s. With the rise of street crime, and it is rife round here, this is a bad retro move and should have been subjected to a trial period from different manufacturers before a full scale move was made

The Council here installed them about 5 years ago saying that they would save money, we didn't get a rebate in the Rates.

A weasel walks into a bar.
Wow says the barman, I’ve never served a weasel before!

What can I get you?
Pop, goes the weasel!
