You may find this video interesting....seems that swapping to LED headlamps may not be as straight forward as we may have thought.

The trend these days is to have brighter lights. Well ok but why, when they have fitted them, don't they get checked for alignment. It's like driving towards the sun in some cases. The other trend is well I don't have DRLs so I'll use my fog lights. These are not for that use. Pity Joe Fuzz doesn't spend more time picking these Sods up than sitting in camera vans milking those doing 33 in a 30 limit.

I can't remember using fog lights in the last 30 years, I have them but we don't get the fogs we had way before that.  I remember, on my motor bike, going into a filling station in about 1953, in dense fog, and three cars followed me as visibility was so bad. When in the R.A.F in 1959 trying to find my way home in the car it was so bad I stopped when I saw a tree in front of me. I was on a grass verge about 20 feet from the road.  The law says they can only be used when visibilty is less than 100 metres, how many conform to that?

With the technology fitted to cars these days it wouldn't be difficult to inhibit the fogs and main beam under certain conditions.

It's all to do with sales. Put two cars in the showroom, one with fogs one without the one with fogs appeals to younger drivers as it looks better. Yes my car has fogs cos it like the other items that come on the super deluxe versions, but in 3 years they have been turned on about 4 times to check them.
