I'm attempting an oil change for the first time myself.

I'm reaching out for help - regarding the correct procedure.

I also have some specific questions.

Might be a good idea to use this post/thread to post any tips n' tricks that members might want to share.

Asking for help:

Oil filter:
A) What is the size of the socket needed, to remove it.
B) Which way am I turning the cover to remove it?
C) How do I then remove the filter from the cap (Twist or just pull?)
D) Do I simply push the new filter onto the cap?
E) Correct torque when tightening cap?
F) Any tips for this job are most welcome

Sump Nut & Seal

1) Purchased fresh sump seal - one side is smooth and without any folds/breaks in it - the other side has a fold all the way around. Which side should be touching the sump pan when replacing?

2) What is the correct torque for tightening the sump plug?

My sincere thanks to anyone willing to contribute.

My friend- you really are going to have to bite the bullet and buy your self a Haynes manual (4784).

All your answer are there.

 A couple of tips on the way;

The oil filter will come away with the black plastic cap. It takes a bit of shifting. Refit the new filter to the cap before refitting- again it needs a good push.

Note the small spout on the filter that has to line up with the hole in the alloy casting body.

Before removing the O ring seal, note how it sits. Yes it's at an odd angle.

Make sure that you use a low ash C2/C3 oil.

Finally, ignore the recommended oil/filter change intervals. This is a busy little engine and 6k miles is more suitable that their 16k.
