unfortunately my wife got stranded in an Asda car park when her stick went limp.

The gear stick had gone completely loose and no gears could be selected ... luckily I was just up the road so was able to go there and by manually moving the selectors on the top of gearbox get the car in neutral making it much easier to recover.

My first thought was that the gear cables had popped off the selector yolk on the gearbox ..as this is a common problem ..but not this time.

basically the small link rod on the gearbox had snapped at one end  ..took the part to my local Citroen dealer , found out it is part number 2452.86 and that they wanted £28.50 ...for ONE  90mm (75mm on centres) long link rod with a 13mm coupling one and and a 10mm the other.....daylight robbery.

After some searching online of Citroen / Peugeot parts drawings I found that part number 2452.93 is an exact fit ...in fact it looks to be the same part...got a brand new genuine Peugeot one on ebay for £5 ..all gears now present and correct.

So if you're stuck with a limp stick :) .....on your 1.6 hdi and 2452.86 is not available or just bloody expensive as in my case ...  try part number 2452.93

Could've tried 'V'  for a quick, temporary fix ?  :)

I can't get the forum to accept the V word:
