I have a 2007 1.8 16v Picasso, and at 1am it woke me up beeping (sounded higher than horn) and flashing, I never thought it had an alarm, and still not sure it does?

There is no obvious way of switching it off, I tried to start it, it starts but alarm still making a racket, so started to move seat to disconnect battery, then without me doing anything it stops just like that!

So I lock it and now 1h30 minutes later its still ok, think I try and sleep a bit!

So what just happened?

Can I stop it happening again? especially at 1am

reading some of the posts it looks like disconnecting battery might not stop an alarm.

How can I tell if its got an alarm? is it not part of the BSI or ECU?

Any help appreciated, thanks

Aftermarket fitted ??

Don't think Xsaras ever had an alarm fitted as standard.   Any dodgy boxes or wiring under the bonnet ?  :)

Well it happened again 12 days later, Its a higher pitch than the horn quite fast beeping, and all the indicator lights flash, which to me says its something inbuilt,  but could be wrong?

I have not seen anything under the bonnet that looks like an alarm, searching google turns up nothing!

I think may be related to a door not been closed completely, would that cause an alarm after a number of hours?

Any ideas where the siren is located?

I imagine its not related to the horn considering the higher pitch.

Have a look here-http://www.citroenpi...-picasso-alarm/

So it could perhaps have a alarm fitted- but not as standard
