So, it has come to the time for a cambelt and water pump change. Before I go ahead I have to make a decision re the fuel pump. Sporadically it leaks a small qty of diesel on engine starting. I need to fix the problem while the cambelt is off as I do not want to do the job again due to a complete failure of the pump.
The issue I have is the astronomic cost of a new pump. I don't really want to fit a second hand one from salvage as it may be no better than what I have. So I went looking for seal kits which do seem to be readily available. Has anybody here ever attempted a rebuild on a high pressure pump or should i just bite the bullet and buy a pump?
