Hi. I have a 2005 1.6HDi, manual that has begun to emit a bit of a throaty sounds from underneath the engine bay. I noticed it, together with a distinct loss of power going uphill and pulling away, yesterday and now this morning I have an Engine Fault message on the dash. No problems with smoke or idling (as yet) just the three symptoms mentioned. I'm no mechanic but am wondering if the problem could be a jiggered Catalytic Converter? Any advice, help or suggestions welcome! Thanks.

Could be, but is it a 110 BHP ?      That one has a DPF.

Sounds to me like a leak in the system, loose joint, leaking flexible pipe [if  they have one], hole, blowing gasket
