Well guys...

Here is a project I have just started.  I am making a portable N64.  I have 4 of these consoles in a cupboard.  I was sent a picture of an N64 that had been converted to a portable unit..

Here is the pic:

I though I could do that..  Ive got nothing to loose except 1 of my old consoles so I'm giving this a try.

I will be using a PSOne screen for the display.

GameBoy Advance case to hold the system

N64/GameCube controllers (For buttons/D-Pads/Joystick)

RC Car Battery to power it all

Here is the progress so far:

All the parts I will need

Old N64

Naked N64

Cart slot removed

Cart slot re-wired for a horizontal position

At this point I tested the console to make sure it out pouts to my screen which it does.

Next is to remove the power and tv connectors, and also to remove the controller ports.

Anyhows..  Thats it so far more pics to follow soon

Looks like another chance to infect your computer if you open any link.

Actually Lancelot they are links to my photobucket account.  So far 22 people have opened the links and liked the photos, and guess what? They haven't been infected..  But just for you (incase you  still think your computer will become infected) here are the pics.

Is the input of the screen composite or do you have to convert the N64 to RGB?

Tetsu0san - the pal n64 is composite.  UK n64 were robbed of the RGB which gives a better picture.  The PSOne screen is just about the right size for the build but you can use those 4.3" reversing camera screens sold on eBay for £10.00

I have got both.  As I can't tune the n64 into my LED tv and have no old TV.  The cheap 4.3" screen has the cables needed with no tuning and is powered by a laptop power supply.

the only hard part is making the case.  I still have to modify the gameboy case I have to fit, but I have also been sent free samples form OKW Enclosures but again you will have to cut out holes for screen, buttons etc.

I didn't have a clue what you were on about so erred on the side of caution. (In fact still don't know what it is, probably because I'm several generations older than you and I don't see any valves!!!)

Sorry namrood

Have you done this sort of conversion before? I presume you must have seen Ben Heck's stuff?

I used to modify consoles a few years ago, multi region SNES, Megadrive, Saturn etc but I never got around to doing any protable conversions. You need a lot of patience for that sort of thing, and I just don't have it.
