Sorry cant help but mine does something similar when the front wipers are on and you put it into reverse gear dont know if it is a safety feature or a fault. May be it could be some thing simple as a loose earth wire just a thought anything worth trying.

The rear wiper unit contains its own park position switch, your problem sounds to me that the switch is faulty and when you move the boot door the switch closes and thinks the wiper is not parked.

With regard to the rear wiper operating when the fronts are ON and you select reverse this is set in the cars personalisation menu, under safety. Yours would appear to be set to ON. You can change it to OFF. see your manual.

It's not a user settable option on the Xsara Picasso. Might be possible to change it with diagnostic software but I can't think why anyone would feel a strong enough need to turn it off.

Hi, would anybody be able to help with a rear wiper not working at all ? I've heard conflicting advice on where the fuse is located, some say its a shared fuse under the bonnet. Everything else on the car (2002 HDI) works perfectly, even the rear wash, it'sjust the rear wiper that refuses to play ball :) Thanks in advance

Well, took a look and can't make out what fuse is for what. Not sure this is the correct cut for my car, for example I don't have an electric sunroof, or electric rear windows, or rain sensor etc. Tempted to just pull each of the blue fuses to check condition, but don't want to upset anything, any ideas ? Thanks

hi there

Just had an issue with my rear wiper -  one day working the next not??

Found the rear wiper shares the fuse with the A/C compressor at location FD which is a 15 amp fuse.

I replaced the fuse but it popped as soon as I put the A/C on so I think the air con has an issue now :(

cheers

Hi

On my sticker it says 09348 .... so not listed here.

It's a 2.0 HDI late 2002 model, will I harm the car if I just start pulling and checking the 15 Amp fuses ?

Thanks

Paul

Did you get to the bottom of this yet? I've got the same problems - front wipers work, as do the front and rear washers. It's just the back wiper that doesn't work.

Ironically it died a day after I replaced the motor for the front wiper, but I can't imagine it's linked? I've pulled out various fuses - there are so many different fuse lists and none seem to be a perfect match to my car, a 2003 2.0 Manual HDi Diesel.

Not yet, it's extremely frustrating.

I'm cautious by nature, so don't want to start pulling and looking at fuses if it's going to upset the car, can anybody confirm it's Ok to pull the blue 15 Amps one at a time to check ?

My rear wiper is "parked" to the left, which would suggest it packed up during wipe.

Hi, does anyone sorted it out? I've got identical problem with my rear wiper. It's starting on it's own whenever I'm unlocking central lock, putting reverse gear on ans sometimes when I open boot or doors. It sometimes starting to work as it should for a few days and then problem comming back. I repaced rear wiper motor, checked earth, cleaned up comm2000 modul and wiper switch in stalk. I've seen on some foreign forum ecu/bsi reboot can help, but I have not idea how to do it and to be honest I'm afraid I can broke ecu/bsi if I will start messing up with it.

My Picasso is '04 2.0 HDi after facelift.

might as well keep the thread going just incase anyone ever finds a solution to this problem.

one of our pics has been doing this for a year , I've given up and pulled the fuse,
luckily a working rear wiper is not a MOT requirement.
