Insurance was due recently on my 04 Reg 1.6 Desire, and as usual I tried numerous of these "so called "cheapy cheapo websites who promise the earth but in reality all seem to be linked to one another and produce similar results. A chap a work suggested this company www.ecarinsurance.com Best quote before trying these people was
its a living nitemare!!!

I got a quote from them which was significantly lower than anything else. However, I'm naturally suspicious as to how they manage it! Perhaps it's because they're in the Channel Isles - no VAT, or IPT, perhaps? I didn't look closely enough.

I was pleasantly surprised at a quote I just had from Citroen's own insurance - less than last yea's cover from Frizzell.

Dearer than Admiral for me. Also, the external quote they send you to kept trying to add a Brian Manson to my policy - never heard of him!

I use ebikeinsurance.co.uk for my bike, a linked company to the car insurers. significantly cheaper than anything else I could find but then i've not tried to claim. Yes an offshore Co. & probably avoiding all duties in this country hence the saving but at least I spoke to a native english/UK based person who could answer my problem whan I phoned.

The Pic's insured with R & SA via CSIS.co.uk, the cheapest I could find with no mileage restrictions, low excess & unlimited business mileage & as DG has mentioned previously meets HMRC's liability requirements.

Cheers
Andy

My in laws are insured with m & s and they had to make a claim which they handled very swiftly and without any hassle,so i am reasonably confident they should be ok,hopefully i will never need to find out!! lol.

There is a lesson in all this - never ever just accept the renewal notice. I was with Admiral for about 3 years, but always beat them down by phoning to cancel and quoting a cheaper policy (genuine, after a search).
I also renew my home plumbing insurance every year for about half price, just by threatening to leave. This year I just went on about credit crunch blah blah :D

Beleive it or not Direct Line arent a bad price, i could match them on a few sites but not beat them, since thier service is good (ive used them for nealry 20 years now) i think you could do worse..

Past couple of years the post office has come out best for me, not the cheapest but I'd rather pay an extra tenner than have to fork out
