How come?..... as soon as you touch the brake, it switches itself off. Just don't switch it back on 'till conditions improve!

Or just tap the end of the stalk to deactivate / activate as road conditions dictate.

Jonathon,

If your pic has the stereo controls on a stalk, tell you dealer that your car just needs the cruise control stalk fitted, a new column shroud and the 'Comms 2000' reprogrammed. embarrass them with your knowledge.

So called experts, Ho, ho, ho :P

Good news, Chapelhouse Citroen in St Helens have figured this out for themselves, so hopefully it will not be long before we have it fitted.
With the exception of front armrests the car is then complete (Desire '53 reg).

Can someone give me a definative answer, can Cruise Control be retrospectivly fitted to a 54 plate 1.6Hdi desire? Dealer says no (usual first answer), I think reading some other posts it may be possible and inexpensive?

Anyone know the codes that are required to 'reprogram the Comms 2000'? Is part No 6239nk the only other thing that is required?

Regards

Gary

As far as parts are concerned you will need the stalk switch and the lower steering column shroud unless you can cut out the slot for the switch yourself or get the dealer to do it.

As far as the code I haven't a clue.....................But then the dealer should!

Sorry if I'm askin'a thicko question but does the 'easy fit' option only apply to later models/those with stalk-mounted stereo controls? I have a 2001 1.8SX petrol with the (usually irritating) wheel-mounted controls and would like cruise control if it's an easy fit option.

P.S. just had the genius thought, I assume all of you who have this fitted drice Picassos with the drive-by-wire throttle pedal (i.e. no throttle cable, done by stepper motor instead)? If so, it won't fit mine, bugger!

1. Yes, its only the ones with stalk-mounted controls that can be easily converted.

2. All "fly by wire" picassos have accelerator cables, connecting the pedal to the potentiometer that converts pedal motion to electrical signal. In most models the potentiometer is mounted in the engine compartment below the windcreen just right of centre (as you look at the open bonnet). So this shouldn't be a problem on its own; but your wheel mounted controls may put the idea out of reach.

Hi

Will reprogramming the Comms 2000 interfere with anything else electrical?

Is it a fairly easy job? Would it be OK on a 1.6 petrol 53 desire?

Cheers

I think the 1.6 petrol does not have the fly by wire throttle, so cruise control cannot be retrofitted to it. There have been a couple of posts along these lines in other CC threads.
