You cannot really compare insurance premiums with other people as theres sooooooo many things that is taken into consideration, as stated the Post Code is the main thing, Age ect........ Best to compare all Insurers with the same details (i.e. Yours) that way you should get whats best for You Posted Image

Yeh, Churchill was a great man!

Agree lancelot, but woof, woof, Churchill came in £200 dearer per car than anyone else. I'm no chicken, so after shopping around I went with Liverpool Victoria and got a discount for two of the same Xpics.

Citroen was £20 dearer than LV for me. Also Citroen refused to offer a guaranteed courtesy car, and with 5 people to ferry around - I need it!

As Lancelot said originally, Citroen don't do insurance, they're under written by someone - the Royal Bank of Scotland!!!!!

I'm insured with 1st Central Insurance.  When I changed to the picasso they wanted another £30, so I paid about £280 in total for TPFT.  They didn't have the greatest reviews on the internet when I googled them but never had any trouble with them when I've called up, always quick to pick up the phone and helpful.

So today the AA sent me my car insurance renewal. last year it cost me £340, because I had not had any insurance in my name for 3+ years. So I thought well it will go down this year as I now have a huge 1 years NCB. WRONG it went up to £407. I cried in my shredded wheat bowl.

At the same time an email arrived from Money supermarket with this years quotes. Out in front was Churchill who will do the same as the AA for £225. The AA in that list is £379, still too high. So bye bye AA hello Churchill.

the most expensive was £979 do what?

Insurance is a big rip-off everywhere, not just in motoring.

Our combined (two of us old fogies) usually pay around £250 for our annual 3 months in OZ. This includes cover for minor things such as blood pressure.

This year the best quote was £318.

But this year I had dermatitis on my hands and decided that it was best to declare it. One company wanted an extra £690. Thee others that I tried said "No increase"   In the 2 months from taking out the insurance to us departing in January the condition cleared.

So I called the AA and told them that competitors were much cheaper than the £407 they want. Off goes the lad and comes back with a final quote of £349. That includes a special £25 discount for me and a reduction because I'll only do about 5000 miles this year. So I had to decline his offer.

Went to Churchill site and reworked my application for 5K with legal cover etc. and it still comes out at £225. Had a nice online chat with a rep and cleared up a few points. They are also doing a free hire car as a special deal. That means you get a car from day 1 if yours is damaged whereas a courtesy car is only from repair approval date.

So that's the deal done saved £124 in end.

Hi All,

Looking at what some of you are paying for insurance is crazy, I just renewed mine with TESCO on line, protected no claims, 12000 per year, business use and i am an insulin dependant diabetic, total cost £181 per year, i think my excess is about £200,

I hope this may help some of you get a cheaper insurance.

All the best,

Rob.jr

It doesn't really work like that does it.

Post code & House number

Age

Car value

NCB

Miles per year

Excess

There is a street in BN post codes where at one end they pay twice what the other end pay. I know this for sure as a friend moved from one end to the other, same car etc apart from house number
