#200824 Citroen picasso wont start!

Posted by lisalou222 on 20 March 2014 - 10:58 PM

Hi, i had to break suddenly, and my picasso 2001 cut out, i tried to jump it as was still moving quite fast, but nothing. Wouldnt start at all. Got hubby to have a look, and there was no fuel coming from the tank, but the pump is making a noise. Got the RAC to come and try, and they diagnosed the same. Theres a full tank of petrol. Ive tried the fuel cut off switch, but no joy. Should i try a new pump? just abit hesitant as i can hear it working.

#200856 C3 Picasso - Wheel Arch Liner

Posted by Duggers on 22 March 2014 - 11:41 AM

Got a 59 Plate C3 Picasso.

Had a strange rubbing noise the other day and managed to track it down to the passenger side wheel arch liner 'flapping' about. It appeared to have broken at the front, and was vibrating in the wind (at speed).

I have purchased a new wheel arch liner (plus some spare mushroom clips) from Citroen, and thought it would be easy to replace.

Managed to get all the old mushroom clips out successfully; and undid the torx screw at the front, but just spent the last hour on my back trying to work out how to undo the hex-head bolt on the underside? It appears to just turn without coming out of the box section strut? I have checked for access holes to see if there is a nut that you can get to on the back - but can't find anything.

Has anyone else had experience of removing this?

Additionally, there was a small piece of broken plastic being held by this bolt, and a similar piece on the other side of the car - is there another piece of plastic undertray that I am missing that is attached to these two bolts.

Many thanks in advance for any help. I've been swearing like a sailor for the last 30 mins!

#200807 Creaking left wheel

Posted by mpike on 20 March 2014 - 02:00 PM

Hi Guys

Wondering if you can offer any suggestions with regards a creaking near side wheel.

When I turn the steering wheel to the right for the last 1/2 a turn the left wheel creaks, moving the wteering wheel between fully right and 1/2 a turn back it creaks, at no other point does the wheel creak, it is just at the extreme of a right wheel lock.

I've took off the tyre and tried another tyre and it does the same, strangely I found that if I jack up the chassis (on the near side) even by a very small amount like 1 cm, the creaking stops even though the tyre is still fully in contact with the ground. Removing the left tyre completely and having the car jacked up the creaking doesn't occur either.

I'm thinking ball joint or track rod end issue, does that seem about right?

I've only had the car about 4 weeks so i'm not used to working on them at all. It's a Citreon Xsara Picasso, 1.6 petrol, 54 plate.

Many regards

#200797 Noise coming from fuel pipe

Posted by col21 on 20 March 2014 - 11:22 AM

I am new to this site and have already posted one issue lol

This is also regarding the C4 Picasso Exclusive I have.

I have this very irritating humming noise coming from the car when driving, it is worse when the car is off the accelerator.  It has been looked at and it appears to be the pipe vibrating that runs from the high pressure pump to the engine.  When a stethoscope has been placed on the pipe it sounds deafening like a pneumatic drill.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem? I'm assuming it's coming from the high pressure pump.

Thanks again

#200865 Xsara picasso drop links intermittent fault

Posted by sofnet2000 on 22 March 2014 - 06:07 PM

Hi all

I am getting fed up changing my drop links every couple of months, i had them changed last year in a garage with 12 month warranty, i had to go back to the garage 3 times during the year to have them changed until they refunded the money and asked me not to come again.

Surely the drop links should last more than 2-3 months, tried to ask the garage to find why they are going so soon, they couldn't be bothered

I want to find out why? any one had a similar problem or knows why they failing so soon your input is much appreciated.

I have 1.6 HDI exclusive 70k on the clock with no more than 9000 miles /year

#200777 How quick do the DVLA act?

Posted by Valhalla on 19 March 2014 - 09:12 PM

Evening all,

Anyone know how quick the DVLA act on getting info on un-taxed cars?. I've got two idiot neighbours who have got cars with out of date tax on them. One from January this year and the one that is more alarming is October last year ! Both of the owners are not your typical boy racers who would struggle or forget to do the tax every year. One is a teacher and the other person we don't actually know what he does.

I'm worried that these people might have an accident in un-taxed cars that might also be un-insured.

#200742 Goodby Faithful Picasso

Posted by Lancelot on 18 March 2014 - 10:54 PM

After  9 years and 10 months I've said goodby to my Picasso.  Having owned about 23 cars and driven many others including Mercs, Jags, BMW and a Bentley it may sound crazy but the PIC is the one that I thoroughly enjoyed owning.  It never let me down, was extremely comfortable, easy to get in and out of. Many cars I struggle just to get in, but the KIA Venga that I've just bought is just as easy as the PIC.  I struggle with a neighbour's C type Merc in Oz and the brother in laws L-R Freelander, having to almost double up to get in.

Unlike some, I'll still visit this site at least twice a day and if I can add anything I will, but you are all lucky to have many "experts" to help you. Thankfully I've not needed help.

#200901 Radio change old one works new one doesn't but does in other cars?

Posted by Jamiesmith on 23 March 2014 - 11:44 AM

Hi all, can anyone help with this strange one.

I have plugged a new radio (sonichi dab) and it fired up initially, but now does not. I have checked the 20amp fuse and that is ok.

I place the old unit back in the Car and it works fine??

I have tried the new rad in another citroen and it works, took it to halfords and it works fine, just not in the citroen C4 we have.

As I said I have changed fuse although was not blown and have also left the battery disconnected for 20 mins then tried again and same scenario?

Am I missing a secret hidden fuse or is the car just not happy with the quality of radio :)

Please help

#200841 Do you rememberyour first motorway drive

Posted by granpa on 21 March 2014 - 06:18 PM

I can vividly recall the very first time I used a motorway, it was the M1 and had not been opened long, I pulled in at the start of the slip road and as recommended at the time, reduced all my tyre pressures by a couple of PSI's to prevent tyres exploding, got back into the driving seat and put on the little used seat belt, feeling like I was in the Steve McQueen movie 'Bullitt', then accelerating down the sliproad onto the M1, slowly nursing the old Anglia up to 70, it felt like flying. Not long after the big end went, maybe that's why I remember

#200815 Jammed soft top

Posted by Fizzyhair on 20 March 2014 - 07:21 PM

My picasso has the dreaded soft top and I'm under the impression it's leaking somewhere...

However it's stuck closed. When the button is pressed it just makes a horrid grinding noise at the front for a second and then nothing. But I need to open it to get to the drains etc.

How do I get it open? The haynes manual just says " sunroof repairs cannot be performed on this Vehicle under normal circumstances "
Which isn't very helpful haha

#200796 Suspension Air Bag Issue

Posted by col21 on 20 March 2014 - 11:11 AM

I'm new to this forum.

I have just bought a 08 Exclusive C4 Picasso (44k) and as this suspension is all new to me.

I noticed on a couple of occasions that it looked low at the back in the morning, more so one one side, however I would get in and it would adjust itself so I thought it was normal.  However one evening I went to the supermarket and  when I came back to the car it looked really low on both sides as you could not see the tops of the tires.  I started the engine and a warning flagged "don't exceed 5 mph".  I panicked and didn't know what to do, however I decided to reverse out slowly and the suspension sorted itself out.

I have since done some research and discovered it to be a common fault.  I took it back to the garage and they sent it to Citroen dealer to test and it came back with no fault!! they are nor prepared to replace the airbags, my argument is that this could happen again and I could be stranded somewhere.

Could it be something else that is causing it? such as a valve or compressor or something electrical?

#200849 Radio and Rear Wiper issues

Posted by Bornagainbiker on 22 March 2014 - 08:06 AM

Hi All,

This is related to my ECU Woes thread: http://www.citroenpi...21740-ecu-woes/

ECU is back and car runs again, but I have two new issues - not sure if they are related:

1. Rear wiper no longer parks correctly (actually parks quite randomly) and exhibits odd behaviour - it started wiping when I unlocked the car, and when I was reversing.

2. Radio does not work. There's power to it, because it whirrs when you press the CD eject button.

Any ideas on this?

I'm going to take a look at the BSi - that has been removed and replaced, and although I was careful with marrying up the right connectors, I might not have put one in properly. There was also an unused socket on it - I couldn't remember if there was anything plugged in to it before, but I couldn't find a 'spare' connector that fitted it amongst the myriad of cables under there.

Best garage I have ever been to for service to my Citroens and Peugeots is The Chevronic Centre Ltd, 35 Wilbury Way, Hitchin, Herts SG4 0TW. They are an independent, and the owner, Rob Moss, is absolutely brilliant. Don't take my word for it, try them.
